KINGS PARK, N.Y. – A trio of runners from the Queens College women's cross country team finished in the top 30, as the Knights' men and women competed at the 18th Annual St. Joseph's College Invitational on Saturday.
The women's team finished fifth out of 18 competing schools, while the men's squad came in 11th among 21 teams.
Sophomore Nakeema Neunie continued her impressive campaign as the Knights' top finisher, placing 18th out of 167 runners with a time of 21:32.5 over the 5K course. Senior Diana Cruz was just five spots behind, coming in 23rd overall with a time of 21:56.5. Freshman Crystal Jia made it three in the top 30, running in 22:19.2 to finish 28th. Junior Alyssa Meltzer also finished in the top 50, finishing the race in 22:56.6 for 41st.
Senior Luis Campos Castro was Queens' top finisher on the men's side, finishing 56th among 187 finishers with a time of 31:49.1. Freshman Dawsen Durant finished the 8K race in 32:14.0 for 67th, while senior Jacob Lascano was just behind in 69th with a time of 32:22.1.
Next up for the Knights will be the East Coast Conference (ECC) Championships hosted by NYIT in Old Westbury, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 21.
