Volleyball Honors Seniors Before Dropping Three-Set Season Finale to LIU Post Saturday

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 3, 2018) - On a day when the Queens College volleyball team honored its group of graduating seniors, freshman Dee-Ana Mitchell had the best performance with an eight-kill effort as the Knights fell in their final match of the season to LIU Post on Saturday (Nov. 3). Set scores favored the Pioneers by a count of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-11 at Fitzgerald Gymnasium.

Mitchell's eight kills also came on a .227 hitting percentage with six digs and two block assists, while Briana Green added three kills for the Knights in the effort. Senior Leeks Hollis was limited in her final collegiate match to just two kills with six digs as Vanessa Juengerkes dished out five assists in her final match as well. Gina Giacalone collected five digs for Queens to cap off her Knights career with 233 digs this season.

Alisha Matthews returned to the court for the first time since Sept. 22 and collected eight assists with six digs and a service ace. It was also the final match for seniors Sarah Koehler and Maryjane D'Agostino, who both saw time in the third set for Queens College.

Lauren Kloos had seven of LIU Post's 37 total kills in the win for the Pioneers, with Rachel Londot and Aleaha Mokamba each collecting five kills. Kassie Akouri-Tejedor and Giulia Genna combiend for 30 assists in the win for the green and gold as libero Allie Lackner sported a match-best ten digs.
