CALDWELL, N.J. (Oct. 30, 2018) - Danielle Agbonifino posted a six-kill performance with a .667 hitting percentage for the Queens College volleyball team on Tuesday (Oct. 30), but the Knights were unable to capitalize on the freshman's lead as Caldwell University earned a four-set victory over QC in New Jersey. Set scores favored the Cougars by counts of 25-14, 25-21, 22-25 and 25-15.
Queens (1-23) was led on the offense by Leeks Hollis, whose nine kills paced the team along with a squad-best 13 digs. Agbonifino was one of four players with six kills, a group that also included Lauren Kehoe, Dee-Ana Mitchell and Briana Green. Green, in particular, played a strong game on offense with three service aces and a .357 hitting percentage as well. Mitchell sported eight digs while Gina Giacalone had a seven-dig effort and Vanessa Juengerkes dished out 24 assists for the Knights in the match.
Caldwell (12-16) attacker Elise Smith posted a match-best 17 kills as Madison Day added ten kills and Samantha Ashton accumulated 29 assists in the Cougars' victory. Humiko Stormer led the hosts with 21 digs in the back row, while Ashton posted eight digs as well.
Queens will resume play on Friday (Nov. 2) when the Knights head to Old Westbury to face NYIT in an East Coast Conference match-up. First serve from Recreation Hall is 6 p.m.
