Volleyball Plays Hard But Falls in Three Sets at Roberts Wesleyan Saturday

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (Oct. 27, 2018) - The Queens College volleyball team could not find its way back into the win column on Saturday (Oct. 27), dropping a three-setter to conference foe Roberts Wesleyan at the Voller Athletic Center in Rochester. Set scores favored the Redhawks by counts of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-20.

Leeks Hollis led the Knights (1-22, 0-12 ECC) with eight kills and 14 digs as senior libero Gina Giacalone posted 14 digs as well. Setter Vanessa Juengerkes had her best match as a Knight thus far with 20 assists while also recording two service aces, two digs and two kills. Danielle Agbonifino, Briana Green and Lauren Kehoe each accumulated five kills and Dee-Ana Mitchell added four kills and five digs. Savannah-Reese Denusta and Maryjane D'Agostino accrued four digs apiece for Queens in the effort.

Rachel Holmes led Roberts Wesleyan (4-16, 3-8 ECC) with eleven kills in the victory for the host Redhawks with Kristina Button and Grace Detwiler both totaling seven kills. Freshman setter Lauren Chase dished out 30 assists in the win while libero Shelby Strausbaugh posted 15 digs for Roberts, as well. Riley Moll added five kills with three assists and nine digs.

The Knights will remain on the road for their next contest, a Tuesday (Oct. 30) evening affair at Caldwell University in New Jersey. First serve from the Garden State is set for 7 p.m.
