Volleyball Falls in Straight Sets at Conference-Leading Daemen Friday

AMHERST, N.Y. (Oct. 26, 2018) - The Queens College volleyball team was swept on Friday (Oct. 26) by ECC-leading Daemen at Lumsden Gymnasium, with the Wildcats posting scores of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-11. The win clinched a conference tournament berth for the Wildcats (16-10, 10-1 ECC) while the loss dropped Queens to 1-21 and 0-11 in league play.

Leeks Hollis posted a team-high six kills while also recording eight digs and two block assists. The Knights managed to handle net play well with a total of 14 team block assists, five of which came from sophomore middle Briana Green with four also being sported by junior Lauren Kehoe. Vanessa Juengerkes dished out eight assists and also sported three digs while senior libero Gina Giacalone posted yet another double-digit dig effort with 12 to push her season total up to 202. 

Allison Post had a match-best 15 kills on a .323 hitting percentage for Daemen with the Wildcats' setting corps of Isa McCaffrey and Georgia Wicker accumulating 20 and 14 assists, respectively. Daemen also recorded strong back-row play from Ali Greenwood, whose 17 digs were a match high.

The Knights are back in action on Saturday (Oct. 27) at 11 a.m. against Roberts Wesleyan in Rochester.
