GARDEN CITY, N.Y. (Oct. 2, 2018) – Maryjane D'Agostino recorded five kills and three digs but the Queens College volleyball team was swept by Adelphi on Tuesday (Oct. 2) in a non-conference match-up in Garden City. Set scores favored the Panthers by a 25-10, 25-16 and 25-18 margin.
Queens (1-14) recorded just 12 kills in total on the match, with Lauren Kehoe adding three against Adelphi's (14-4) front row blocking group. Vanessa Juengerkes had nine assists and seven digs to lead QC in both categories. Gina Giacalone added six digs as well, with the Knights managing to hit just .188 in the third set after being held to a negative attack percentage in the prior two sets.
Adelphi's Sara Mandreja had a match-best 12 kills on a .550 hitting clip while McKenna Clawson added seven kills in one set, sporting a .778 hitting percentage on the day. As a team, the Panthers managed a .333 percentage with Grace Wegmann pushing forward 12 assists. Wegmann was one of three AU setters (Courtney Crook and Katie Barry, as well) with double-digit assists in the contest.
Queens will return to conference play on Friday (Oct. 5) for a 7 p.m. contest versus LIU Post at the Pratt Recreation Center.
