WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2018) – The Queens College volleyball team will begin the 2018 fall season as an outsider for the four-team East Coast Conference tournament after the Knights were voted to finish sixth in the eight-team rankings on Tuesday (Aug. 21).
First-year head coach Kevin Cook will have several front-row players returning from last year's squad including sophomore Briana Green, whose performance in the middle earned her an ECC Rookie of the Week mention one fall ago. Lauren Kehoe and Leeks Hollis are also back for Queens as the squad will look to replace departed setter Kristen Moore and libero/outside hitter Reggie Anthony with newcomers.
Reigning ECC champion Molloy claimed top-billing in the rankings with LIU Post and NYIT tied for second place. Bridgeport was slotted fourth followed by Daemen, Queens, Mercy and Roberts Wesleyan. NYIT outside hitter Tiffany Verni was named Preseason Offensive Player of the Year by the conference coaches.
The full results of the poll are below. Queens will open the 2018 campaign on the road with a four-game, two-day trip to East Stroudsburg University for the ESU Invitational. The Knights will face NE-10 foes Saint Anselm and New Haven on Aug. 31 while bouts with CACC opponents Jefferson and Caldwell linger for Sept. 1.
