WEST BABYLON, N.Y. (Nov. 17, 2017) - Sophomore middle hitter Cassidy Stewart of the Queens College volleyball team was named an All-East Coast Conference selection for the second consecutive year, earning a place on the conference's Honor Roll distinction as per the ECC office on Friday (Nov. 17).
Stewart, the 2016 ECC Rookie of the Year, acquitted herself well in her second season for the Knights. The native of Keller, Texas ranked inside the top-15 in the conference in six major categories including kills per set (2.36), hitting percentage (.256), service aces (30), aces per set (0.36), solo blocks (9) and total points (250.0). Stewart was tenth in hitting percentage in the ECC and led QC with 196 total kills in 24 total matches played. She collected double-digit kill performances in seven matches, including a season-best and career-high 22 kills on a .475 hitting percentage in a five-set victory over Chestnut Hill back on Sept. 22.
The sophomore hit .300 or better in 11 matches on the season, swinging a season-best .643 vs. LIU Post on Sept. 20. Stewart also proved lethal from the service stripe, striking for nine aces in two victories over Roberts Wesleyan this season including a four-ace performance in the season finale on Nov. 12.
