Joe Brancaccio, a graduate of Queens College, has returned to be the school's Field Events Coach.
Coach Brancaccio's Track and Field career started at Msgr. McClancy H.S. in East Elmhurst, where he threw the shotput and discus. During his H.S. career, he won two City Championships in the shotput and two Brooklyn-Queens Championships in the discus. Coach Brancaccio's discus Throw is still in the top 25 all time in the CHSAA.
While attending Queens College, Coach Brancaccio switched to the Hammer and the 35 pound Weight Throw. Brancaccio competed in many national and international meets including the Milrose Games , U.S. Olympic Invitational, Florida Relays, Dartmouth Relays and the IC4A Championships. He also competed in three NCAA Championships and in his 1983 Coach Brancaccio became a All American.
Following graduation, Coach Brancaccio taught Physical Education
at Jamaica H.S. in 1989. He then switched to a career in Law
Enforcement is presently a Detective at the Queens County District
Attorney's Office. Coach Brancaccio is married and has two
children.
