STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (Jan. 5, 2018) - Diana Cruz's seventh-place showing in the 400-meter dash highlighted the efforts for the Queens College track and field programs on Friday (Jan. 5) at the Wagner College Invitational in Staten Island, N.Y.
The senior from Colombia posted a time of 1:00.39 in her heat and was the highest-fininshing Division II runner in the event, as all six of the competitors in front of her were from Division I schools. Cruz's showing highlighted the efforts from the QC women's track and field team, with Terrilyn Britton finishing seventh (26.15s) in the 200-meter dash.
Two runners on the men's side posting heat victories in respective races as well. Jonathan Dinh won his section of the men's 400-meter dash at the Ocean Breeze Complex in a time of 53.97 seconds; meanwhile, Jacob Lascano was victorious in his section of the men's 800-meter run (2:08.20). Dawsen Durant was 25th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.69 seconds.
The Knights will return to Staten Island on Friday (Jan. 12) to compete in the Saint Thomas Aquinas Spartan Invitational at Ocean Breeze.
