Diane Etienne Named to USTFCCCA Women's Outdoor Track and Field East All-Region Team
NEW ORLEANS - The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its women's outdoor track and field all-region teams this week, and Queens College junior standout, Diane Etienne (Medford, N.Y.) has been named to the All-East Region team for her performance this spring in the discus event.
Etienne was one of 1,274 student-athletes (male and female) who received recognition in over 1,854 events this spring. At the CACC-ECC Challenge Meet (May 4; Lakewood, N.J.), Etienne broke her own season-best by 2.5-plus meters, hurling the discus to a school-record mark of 40.25m.
Etienne is the fourth track and field student-athlete from Queens College to garner All-East Region accolades in the 2011-12 academic year. Women's teammate and senior, Indira Avila (Hicksville, N.Y.) garnered all-region citations as a cross country runner in the fall, and then again in the 5,000-meter run in the winter indoor season. Meanwhile, men's performers Marvin Mandat (No. Babylon, N.Y.) and Vincent Fratto (Farmingdale, N.Y.) took home all-region praise during the indoor season in the high hurdles and discus events, respectively.
