LAKEVIEW, N.Y. (Oct. 13, 2018) - The Queens College women's tennis team improved its record on the season to an unblemished 7-0 after sweeping Molloy on Saturday (Oct. 13) in an East Coast Conference match-up. The Knights lost just nine games overall in a 7-0 victory over the Lions at Hempstead Lake Indoor Tennis Complex in Lakeview.
Queens picked up the requisite doubles point with relative ease as the Knights claimed 6-0 victories in both first- and third-doubles play. Marisa Ostoja and Louisa Brunetti scored the victory at the top tandem over Danielle Bloecker and Megan Scali while Araceli Bel Aleixendri and Line Sorsdahl Aasen defeated Briana Gonzalez and Alyssa Germaine at third-doubles. Anica Knezevic and Laura Ortega Jover claimed a 6-2 victory versus Montaine Le Goupil-Maier and Samantha Bloecker at second-doubles, as well.
Reehan Rashad posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory in the No. 1 singles flight over Le Goupil-Maier with Luisa Auffarth beating the elder Bloecker---Danielle---at second-singles in a 6-2, 6-0 win. Ortega Jover's 6-0, 6-0 win over Scali at third-singles was mirrored by Bel Alexeindri's 6-0, 6-0 victory at fourth-singles against Gonzalez. Lastly, Sorsdahl Aasen won a 6-2, 6-1 match with Samantha Bloecker at the fifth flight as Knezevic took home an 8-0 pro-set victory at sixth-singles on Germaine.
The Knights will face Roberts Wesleyan on Friday (Oct. 19) at 4 p.m.
