Rashad's Singles Run Ends in Quarterfinals at ITA Regionals

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Junior Reehan Rashad of the Queens College women's tennis team had her run through the singles main draw come to an end in the quarterfinals of the ITA East Regional Championships on Sunday.

The No. 3 seed in the tournament, Rashad defeated 15th-seeded Mia Covic of Chestnut Hill College, 6-2, 6-3, in the round of 16. She then battled NYIT's Ivana Andric, the No. 11 seed, in a hard-fought 6-3, 3-6, 10-8 defeat in the quarterfinals.

Rashad went 2-1 in the tournament, as she also topped Post's Annika Janson on Saturday. The East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week on Sept. 5, Rashad now owns a 6-2 overall singles record for the season.

Rashad and the Knights will return to dual match play on Friday, Sept. 29, when they host St. Thomas Aquinas College in ECC action at 12 p.m.
