Women's Tennis Ranked No. 26 in Final ITA Division II Poll of Season; Tabbed as No. 1 in East Region

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Campbell's and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their final NCAA Division II Women's Tennis Poll of the 2011-12 season recently, and Queens (N.Y.) College has been tabbed as the No. 26 squad in the country. Head coach Alan Nagel's Knights were also the top-ranked team in the East region, and had four players ranked regionally.

Two-time East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year and 2011 ECC Player of the Year, junior Erika Goldsmith (Edison, N.J.) was ranked as the No. 9 singles player in the region, while teammates Anna Rodionova (So., Orenburg, Russia), Francesa Fanchin (Fr., New York, N.Y.) and Phoebe Chiem (Fr., Duluth, Ga.) were tabbed in the Nos. 12-through-14 slots, respectively.

In doubles action, Fanchin and Goldsmith garnered the No. 2 regional ranking, while Chiem and Rodionova received the No. 7 spot in the tally.

The Knights went 18-2 in 2011-12, and advanced to their third-consecutive NCAA Division II Championships Round of 16. Queens went undefeated in the regular season against Division II competition for the second-consecutive campaign.
