Women's Tennis ranked first in the East
The Queens College Knights Women's Tennis Team, fresh off of an undefeated fall season and an East Coast Conference Championship, has been ranked first in the East Region by the governing body of collegiate tennis, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

Queens reigns in ECC Women's Tennis
Somadi Druker, Erika Goldsmith and Maria Mendes posted singles victories to lead Queens College to the 2009 East Coast Conference Women's Tennis Team Championship in on Wednesday. The final score of the match was QC 6, Dowling College 0.

QC wins battle of unbeaten Women's Tennis Heavyweights
Somadi Druker and Erika Goldsmith beat the top ranked doubles team from Concordia College to lead the Knights to a 6-3 win in a non-conference match on Saturday on the campus of Queens College. Both clubs finished first in their respective conferences this season and had come into this match undefeated.

Women's Tennis advances to Conference Championships
The Queens College women's tennis team advanced to the East Coast Copnference finals by beating Molloy College, 7-0, in a semifinal match played in Flushing. The finals are scheduled for next Wednesday at QC against either C.W. Post or Dowling.

Mocodeanu named Player of the Year, Goldsmith top rookie
The Queens College duo of Laura Mocodeanu and Erika Goldsmith were chosen as the East Coast Conference's Women's Tennis Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, respectively for the 2009 season. Alan Nagel was also named Coach of the Year while four other Knights earned all-conference honors.

ECC weekly awards to three
It was announced on Monday that Erika Goldsmith (Tennis), Andrea Slavin (Soccer) and Daniel Stoker (Soccer) were all named East Coast Conference weekly award winners. Goldsmith was Player of the Week, Slavin was Offensive Player of the Week and Stoker was Rookie of the Week in their respective sports.

QC stays perfect in ECC Women's Tennis
Queens College battled the wind and Molloy College and came away with a 9-0 victory in an ECC match played outdoors on their Flushing, New York campus on Tuesday afternoon. The win improves QC's record to a perfect 9-0 overall and a spotless 5-0 against ECC opponents.

The Lady Knights clinched first place by beating second place Dowling College, 9-0, on Tuesday on QC's home courts. Somadi Druker, Maria Mendes and Maria Perevezentseva each won their singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores.

Mocodeanu and Goldsmith take ECC Women's Tennis weekly honors
Laura Mocodeanu and Erika Goldsmith helped the Lady Knights to three wins in three matches this past week. As a result, Mocodeanu was named Player of the Week and Goldsmith Rookie of the Week by the East Coast Conference.

Lady Knights ace road trip
The Lady Knights tennis team hit the road and returned home with a pair of 9-0 wins this weekend. The first victory came at Philadelphia University on Friday and the second, including Giorgia Roiss' first as a collegiate, was at UDC on Saturday.

Women's Tennis team blanks C.W. Post to stay unbeaten
Queens College defeated C.W. Post, 9-0, to remain unbeaten in dual match play in 2009. The win was their fifth overall and second in ECC play.

Four straight for Women's Tennis after win over C.W. Post
The Lady Knights moved to 4-0 after defeating C.W. Post College 8-1 in a non-conference match played on Wednesday in Flushing, New York. QC swept the doubles matches and won all but the sixth spot in singles play.

The Queens College Womens Tennis team has won seven out of the last eight conference championships and has been invited to the NCAA tournament for a record 9 straight years, but has never won a Division I championship until now.

The contributions of three Lady Knights were recognized by the East Coast Conference in their weekly awards announcements. Somati Druker was chosen Women's tennis Player of the Week while Erika Goldsmith and Brittany Silipo were named Women's Tennis and Women's Soccer Rookies of the Week, respectively.

Queens College defeated West Liberty State University, 8-1, in women's tennis action in Flushing, New York on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Knights took five of six singles matches and all three double contests, including an exciting 9-8 (7-5) win at the #1 spot by the tandem of Somali Drucker and Erika Goldsmith.

The Lady Knights tennis team lost only two games on their way to a 9-0 win over Georgian Court University in their season opener on the outdoor courts at Queens College.
