MADISON, N.J. (Nov. 30, 2018) - The Queens College women's swimming team ended the first day of competition in fifth place at the Ranger Invitational on Friday (Nov. 30) at Drew University. The Knights scored a total of 38 points in the opening session with the host Rangers leading all teams with 116 points.
Jennifer Arana-Perez had a big day of competition for QC, placing ninth in the 200-yard individual medley (2:22.80) and third in the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.27. Arana was also a part of two top-finishing relays for the Knights, including the 200-yard freestyle relay. Arana was the third swimmer in the squad that finished fourth in a time of 1:44.69 with Amanda Giordano, Gabriela Almeida and Megan Dawes encompassing the other legs of the team. Dawes---who finished fifth in the 200-free in a time of 2:01.82---led the Knights' 400-yard medley relay group to a fourth-place finish as well. The Australian native was the lead-off leg with Chelsy Espinosa, Arana and Almeida clocking a time of 4:17.93.
The knights will compete in the second day of action at the Ranger Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 1) beginning at 10 a.m.
