The inclement weather hitting the tri-state area shifted Saturday's scheduled soccer doubleheader between the University of Bridgeport and Queens College, to Sunday afternoon. The contests will now be played at Bridgeport, with the women's and men's tilts commencing at 3 and 6 p.m., respectively.

Due to the rain hitting the tri-state area, Saturday's East Coast Conference soccer doubleheader at Mercy College has been postponed. No make-up dates for the contests have been scheduled at this time. Both Queens College soccer teams are back in action Monday afternoon (Sept. 26) at home versus Lincoln (Pa.). The women's contest will get underway at 2:30 p.m., with the men's match starting at 4:30 p.m.

Junior Janine Guerra (Whitestone, N.Y.) sent home an equalizing goal in the 80th minute Saturday afternoon at Sodexo Field, but it was not enough for the Queens College women’s soccer team, as its attempt to garner its first result of the 2011 campaign fell just over four minutes short when host No. 18 Franklin Pierce scored a 2-1, double-overtime decision in the 106th minute of play.

Women's Soccer Set to Open Challenging Schedule Sept. 2 at Franklin Pierce Classic
Queens College women’s soccer fourth-year head coach, Carl Christian recently announced his team’s 2011 schedule, and for the second consecutive season the Knights will open their campaign at the Franklin Pierce Classic in Rindge, N.H., over Labor Day weekend. Queens will face four teams that advanced to the 2010 NCAA Division II Women’s Soccer Championships throughout the campaign, and will look to build on last season’s successes – which saw Christian’s side advance to its first-ever East Coast Conference championship final.
