QC hands Dowling first conference loss on Silipo's goal

Brittany Silipo scored the game's lone goal in the 60th minute as Queens College beat Dowling College, 1-0, on Saturday in Flushing, New York. The Knights improved to 3-2 in conference play while the loss was DC's first in five ECC contests.

Dowling failed to dent the scoreboard despite having the advantage in play over the first 15 minutes of the match. QC then began taking the play to DC, registering six of the last ten shots attempted in the first half.

The game remained a scoreless tie until Caitlin Gracia played the ball up the left sideline to Silipo. After a run of about 45 yards, Silipo turned the corner on Dominique Rodriguez, dribbled to the box and beat goalkeeper Sara Sullivan with a shot into the lower right hand corner of the net for the only goal of the match.

Allison Breakey made four saves in posting her second shutout of the season.
