QC beats Wilmington 2-0 on goals by D'Amore and Bolton

Laura D'Amore and Kirri Bolton each scored second half goals to help the Lady Knights to a 2-0 victory over Wilmington (DE) University on Thursday in Flushing, New York. With the win QC evens their record at 3-3-1.

Queens College held a 9-2 advantage on the shot clock after 45 minutes but the game remained scoreless until just over four minutes into the second session. That's when Laura D'Amore lifted a shot into the top right hand corner from in close to put the Lady Knights on top, 1-0.  The goal was D'Amore's third of the year.

QC held Wilmington off the board despite a five shot barrage over a two minute span starting in the 78th minute. That's when a fine individual effort by Kirri Bolton salted the game away for QC. Bolton got possession about 40 yards from the Wilmington goal, manuevered to within 25 yards out before bending a shot into the upper right hand corner of the cage to give the Lady Knights a much needed two goal cushion with 5:28 remaining. Like D'Amore, the goal by Bolton was also her third of the year.

Allison Breakey made four saves for Queens College in picking up the first shut out of her collegiate career.
