Slavin beats Bentley with golden goal; Butler named ECC Rookie of the Week

Andrea Slavin scored the golden goal to give Queens College a 3-2 come from behind victory over Bentley College on Monday in Flushing, New York. Earlier in the day Lady Knights' goalkeeper Crystal Butler was named East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week.
Slavin picked up a loose ball about 30 yards out and blasted it past Bentley goalie Miranda Charles to give QC the win in the seventh minute of overtime. The goal was Slavin's sixth of the season and sixth in her last four games.
The Lady Knights had rallied twice in the second half to tie the score and send the game into OT. Melissa Cuartas hit the crossbar but Christina Cascio was there for the rebound to draw QC even with Bentley at one in the 51st minute. Bentley struck right back to regain the lead on a goal by Ashley Reynolds in the 52nd minute but Katherine Colon connected from the top of the box with under 21 minutes remaining to send the game to extra time. Colon had just stepped back on the field after having her nose bloodied by an errant elbow.
Butler, who improved to 5-0 in net for the Lady Knights, earned ECC Rookie of the Week honors by picking up wins over Caldwell (3-1) and Georgian Court (1-0) last week.
Queens College improves to 5-1 with their fifth straight win while Bentley College drops to 3-5-1 with the loss.
