Lady Knights bested by Southern Connecticut in their 2008 Soccer Opener

The Lady Knights were bested by the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University, 3-0, in New Haven, CT on the last day of August. Not only was the match the first of the season for QC, but it was also the first as head coach for Carl Christian.

Jenna Mallico opened the scoring for SCSU in the 35th minute off of passes from Gina DellaRosa and Katrina Cook. The score remained that way until the clock read 64:00 at which time Della Rose converted a pass from Mallico to make it a two goal lead for the home team. Cook closed out the scoring on the afternoon in the 70th minute as Mallico added another assist on the play, her fourth point of the day.

Lady Knights goalkeeper Valentina Duque made six saves but QC was outshot 18-4 for the game. Andrea Slavin had two of the four shots while Caitlin Gracia and Laura D'Amore recorded the others.
