Queens Downed by Bridgeport in Road Setback

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. – The Queens College women's lacrosse team fell to East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Bridgeport, 16-3, on the road on Wednesday. It was the Knights' third road game in a row and fourth in their last five outings.

Junior Mary Pat Gibble led Queens with two points on a goal and an assist. Sophomores Lauren Gentile and Patriece Ausili tallied the other two goals for the Knights.

Bridgeport (7-3, 1-2 ECC) scored the first three goals of the game, but Gibble made it just a two-goal game, 3-1, midway through the first half with her sixth goal of the season.

The Purple Knights gained full control over the final 10:57 of the opening half, however, scoring six straight goals to end the half with a 9-1 lead. Bridgeport kept on firing in the second half, tallying the first five goals of the half to go up, 14-1.

Gentile and Ausili fired back-to-back goals for the Knights to make it 14-3 before the Purple Knights potted two more goals to claim the 16-3 victory. Bridgeport outshot Queens, 24-10.

Queens (0-7, 0-3 ECC) will look to get in the win column on Thursday, April 6, at Nyack at 3:30 p.m.
