COLCHESTER, Vt. - Junior Heather Rosen (Holbrook, N.Y.) fired home four goals Sunday afternoon for the Queens College women's lacrosse team, but it was not enough for the Knights, who saw host Saint Michael's College break open an 8-8 game just over midway through the second half en route to an 11-9 decision in non-conference play.
Rosen scored two of her goals in the second half, including a game-tying marker with 28:19 to go to knot the game at 6-all, and a free-position tally with 2:37 remaining to pull QC to within a 10-9 count. However, the Purple Knights were able to add a man-up goal over one minute later and ran out the clock on the contest.
Junior Sarah Boucher (Oceanside, N.Y.) led all players with six draw controls for Queens, and tied for the game-high with three caused turnovers. Senior defender Nicole Foy (Levittown, N.Y.) also caused three turnovers, while freshman Shannon Doody (Lynbrook, N.Y.) scooped up a game-best five ground balls.
Head coach Tricia Moran Bonagura's Knights are back in action Saturday afternoon, when they travel to Painesville, Ohio, for a 9 a.m., East Coast Conference game at Lake Erie College.
