In 14 games for the Knights in their first season of their lacrosse program, Melissa recorded 10 goals and a team leading 10 assists.

Melissa was a four year varsity letter winner at New Hyde Park Memorial High Schooll, starting at attack as a freshman and serving as team captain as a senior. She was named Sportsman of the Year in 2009, and received the Best Work Ethic, Unsung Hero and MVP awards while being named all-conference.

While at NHP Memorial, Melissa also played varsity basketball and soccer and was on the field hockey team from 2007-09, earning all-conference honors. She was also a member of the PE Leaders, Vice President of her high school class and Homecoming Queen. Melissa has also coached PAL girl's lacrosse for six year.
