Tom Flahive just completed his fourth season as the head coach of the Queens College Lady Knights Women's Basketball team. It was a season in which he led QC to the East Coast Conference Playoffs while capturing the conference's Coach of the Year award.
When he succeeded Denis Conroy in the summer of 2004, Tom became
the sixth head coach of Lady Knights since the school began play in
Division II in 1987.
Tom is a graduate of St. Joseph's of Brooklyn where he captained
the men's basketball team while earning a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Psychology. A member of the WBCA, Tom comes to Queens from
Montclair State College where he was an assistant coach. He has
also served as an assistant at the College of Staten Island and St.
Francis College of Brooklyn and spent three seasons as head coach
at St. Joseph's College, where he helped re-start the program.

Pat O'Brien just completed his third season as the assistant coach for the Queens College Lady Knights Basketball team. It was a productive season during which the Lady Knights continued their resurgence in the East Coast Conference.
Pat is a graduate of St. John's University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. He has devoted over 30 years coaching and teaching basketball to Long Island youth ranging in age from elementary through high school.
Jessica Sanchez

Jessica Sanchez steps off of the court and onto the bench for the 2008-2009 season. She joins the Lady Knights staff as a Graduate Assistant Coach.
Sanchez wrapped up her four year playing career at Queens College with 1049 points, 376 rebounds, 193 assists and 112 steals in 110 games played. She never missed a game in her Lady Knights' career and was a team captain as a junior and a senior. Jessica reached the 1000 point mark on February 20, 2008 at Fitzgerald Gymnasium against conference rival Adelphi.
During her playing days Sanchez was awarded the Queens College Female Outstanding Senior Award for 2007-2008, the Queens College Female Most Improved Player Award for 2005-2006 and the Women's Basketball team's Outstanding Freshman Award.
For the past three years, Jessica has served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Samuel Fields YMHA girls basketball team. She is currently working towards her degree in economics.
Maryann Welsh
Graduate Assistant Coach

Maryann Welsh joins the Lady Knights coaching staff in 2008 after spending three years on the court as a player at Queens College. In her career at QC she scored 511 points and grabbed 384 rebounds in 68 games.
Welsh served as a team captain for 2007-2008, a campaign which saw her rank second on the squad with 184 rebounds and third in points with 257. Her collegiate career highlights include being named the East Coast Conference Player of the Week in January of 2007 for posting two consecutive double-doubles (1/23/07 vs. Dowling and 1/25/07 versus Mercy), and scoring a career high 24 points at Concordia College on 2/27/08.
At Bishop Kearny High School, Maryann played four years of varsity basketball. During her years there she was team captain and Most Valuable Player, as well as second team all city (Brooklyn), in 2004 and Most Improved Player in 2003.
Maryann has gained valuable experience working at various basketball camps and clinics and is pursuing a career in physical education.
