Women's Basketball Picked Fifth in East Coast Conference Preseason Poll

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Nov. 9, 2018) – The Queens College women's basketball team will begin the 2018-19 season as the No. 5 seed in the East Coast Conference, that according to the league's preseason poll which was released on Thursday (Nov. 8).

The Knights finished last season with a 9-9 record in ECC competition which gave the team the fifth seed in the conference's postseason tournament, a quarterfinal date at NYIT. The team will go into this year with lofted expectations as junior guard Beth Bonin was named a Preseason All-America Honorable Mention by the Women's Division II Basketball Bulletin. QC received 54 points in the coaches' ledger, which can be found in its entirety below.

LIU Post was the clear-cut choice to claim the conference crown, snaring eight of ten first-place votes and a total of 98 points; the Pioneers' Sasha Patterson was named Preseason Player of the Year. NYIT and Saint Thomas Aquinas each collected a first-place tally and rounded out the top-three in the rankings.

Queens College will open its 2018-19 campaign on Saturday (Nov. 10) and Sunday (Nov. 11) at the ECC/CACC Conference Challenge to be held at Molloy College in Rockville Centre. The Knights will face Chestnut Hill on Saturday at 2 p.m. before taking on Jefferson at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
