FLUSHING, N.Y. (Jan. 26, 2018) - The Queens College women's basketball team took time out of its schedule on Thursday (Jan. 25) to serve the greater community by taking part in the Basketball Buddies program at the Samuel Field Y in Little Neck.
Thursday's appearance marks the seventh straight year that the Knights have taken part in the Basketball Buddies program. The program is specifically designed as a way to introduce or re-introduce basketball to children and youths who are afflicted by autism.
"I think this was a great experience not only for the kids, but for me and my team as well," said sophomore guard Beth Bonin. "It's always a great feeling knowing you're bringing a smile to someone's face, but I know for me they also brought a big smile to my face."
The Knights return to the hardwood on Saturday (Jan. 27) for an East Coast Conference showdown with UDC at 1 p.m. in Washington.
