Women's Basketball Ranked 12th in WBCA Preseason Poll

LILBURN, Ga. – After a historic season in 2016-17, the Queens College women's basketball team begins the 2017-18 season ranked 12th in the nation in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) NCAA Division II Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Knights received 290 points in the poll and were one of just two ranked teams from the east region. Queens finished the 2016-17 season at No. 7 in the WBCA rankings.

Last season, Queens won its first-ever NCAA Division II East Regional Championship, while also winning the East Coast Conference (ECC) Regular Season Championship. The Knights reached the Elite Eight and concluded the season with a program-best 27 wins.

Head coach Elizabeth Naumovski returns eight players from last season's memorable squad, including two of the team's top four scorers from a season ago in sophomore Beth Bonin and senior Merrick Rowland, while Naumovski also added four talented newcomers to the program.

Queens will open the season at Jefferson on Saturday, Nov. 11, at 2 p.m.
