FLUSHING, N.Y. – Sophomore Jennifer Arana-Perez set a new Queens College program record over the weekend at the Ranger Invitational, lowering her own 100-meter butterfly mark down to an impressive 1:00.46 seconds.
Arana-Perez' performance squeezed out host Drew University's Katie Jefferson by three-tenths of a second to take first at the meet. She also nabbed second place finishes in the 200-meter individual medley and the 200-meter fly events.
Arana-Perez' previous record in the 100-meter butterfly was 1:00.62. She returns to competition with the rest of the Knights' swim team on January 12 in a dual meet against William Patterson. The first swim at Fitzgerald Gymnasium is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
