Knights hang tough in 63-54 loss to frontrunning C.W. Post

The Knights never trailed by more than nine points in a 63-54 loss to first place C.W. Post on Wednesday evening in Greenvale, New York.

Nicolette Marciniak put Post ahead 16-7 just under eight minutes in but QC battled back to make it a two point game on a Cadie Chu basket with nine seconds left in the half. A buzzer beater by Felicia Joyner sent the teams to the locker room with Post leading, 32-28 after 20 minutes. Talaya Melton had seven and Chloe Johnson added six in the half for the Knights to keep things close.

The Knights tied things up at 35, only the second time all game the two teams were even on the scoreboard, when Jennifer Robbins connected for three with 2:33 gone in the second half. Five minutes later, Joyner capped a 12-4 C.W. Post run to put her team ahead by eight points but QC clawed their way back once again, getting within two on one of two from the line by senior Janine Maser.

However, the Knights would get no closer than four points the rest of the evening in falling to Post for the second time in the 2009-2010 campaign. Johnson finished with a dozen while Brittany Faherty scored 10 and Robbins chipped in with nine points and 18 rebounds to pace QC.
