Balanced attack leads Lady Knights to 56-44 Quarterfinal win over STAC

Three players accounted for 40 points for the Lady Knights' in their 56-44 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas College in Flushing in the East Coast Conference Quarterfinals. Jennifer DiChiara, who received her ECC Player of the Year Award prior to the game, led QC with 15 points, 15 rebounds and five blocked shots.

With the win, the top seeded Lady Knights advance to the ECC Semifinals on Saturday, March 6th, hosted by Adelphi University. Their opposition will be C.W. Post, with the tip-off set for 12:00 pm.

Amanda Bartlett connected on a pair of threes and Christine Harnischfeger added five points as their team closed the first half on a 19-3 run to take a 33-14 lead at the break. All four of STAC's first half field goals came from beyond the arc. Jennifer Robbins led QC with nine on three for five from long range.

Two free throws by DiChiara gave QC their biggest lead of the evening, 41-20, with 13:44 remaining in the contest. STAC chipped away and cut their deficit to nine with a three from Colleen Vogel with 1:56 remaining to make the score 51-42. However, Bartlett stemmed the tide with a three of her own 13 seconds later to put the game out of reach.

Bartlett, who also received her 1st team-all-ECC awards before tip-off, added 14 for the Lady Knights, leaving her just five points short of 1,000 for her collegiate career. Robbins also has 11 points for QC.
