Bartlett's 19 leads Lady Knights in Title Clincher

Amanda Bartlett scored 19 points to lead the Lady Knights to a 66-62 victory over second place Molloy College on Wednesday in Rockville Centre, New York. With the win, Queens College clinches the East Coast Conference regular season title, the team's first championship since moving to Division II in 1987.

Kymira Woodberry, who led all players with 21 points, tied the game for Molloy at 11 with a free throw 5:03 into the first half. The Lady Knights then proceeded to rattle off 11 straight points, capped by a three from sophomore guard Christine Harnischfeger with 9:34 left in the opening session.

QC took a 32-21 advantage into the second half on the strength of nine from Bartlett and eight points and six rebounds from reigning ECC Player of the Week Jennifer DiChiara. Molloy would slowly chip away, finally cutting the Lady Knights' lead to just three points (63-60) in the final minute of the contest. Bartlett responded by sinking two clutch free throws with 14 seconds remaining to ice the game for QC.

Kara Otterbine added 16 points while DiChiara finished with 14 points, nine boards, three assists and three rejections for the Lady Knights, who are now winners of eight consecutive games and 20 out of 21. They wrap up their regular season slate at Dowling on Saturday before hosting the eighth seed - either STAC or NYIT - in the ECC Quarterfinals. That game will be played in Flushing on Wednesday, March 4th, starting at 5:00 pm.
