DiChiara and Bartlett each score 26 as Lady Knights beat Mercy, 83-70

Jennifer DiChiara and Amanda Bartlett each scored 26 points to lead the Lady Knights to a 83-70 win over ECC rival Mercy College in Flushing on Martin Luther King Day. The win was the tenth straight for QC, who improve to 11-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.

DiChiara was also named co-Player of the Week by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association for the week just completed.

Bartlett made two free throws with 4:24 left in the first half to give QC a 38-24 lead but Mercy fought back to cut the lead to three on a Samantha Devore basket 24 seconds into the second half. The Lady Knights answered with an 18-5 run to open up a 57-41 lead on two free throws from DiChiara at the 9:44 mark.

Mercy fought back again, pulling to within five points (73-68) on an Aimee Levine two pointer with 1:59 remaining but DiChiara took the in bounds pass from Jennifer Robbins, drove down the court, took the ball to the hoop, made the shot and was fouled. She completed the three point play from the line, effectively putting the game out of reach.

Christina Baxter scored a game high 33 for Mercy College in a losing effort. DiChiara had 15 boards and five blocks to go along with her 26 points.
