CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. – Junior ToniMarie Valeriano of the Queens College softball team was honored as the East Coast Conference (ECC) Player of the Week on Monday following her impressive performance at the plate and in the circle over eight games last week.
Valeriano put together an impressive slash line of .478/.538/.652 over four doubleheaders for the Knights this past week, while also posting a 0.98 ERA in the circle. She scored five runs and drove in three more, while hitting her first home run of the season.
Making four starts at pitcher this week for Queens, Valeriano accumulated 21.1 innings of work in the circle. She surrendered only three earned runs all week with two complete games, while striking out 19.
In the Knights' four wins on the week, she went 9-for-12 with four runs and three RBI. Most notably, Valeriano hit her first home run of the season in game two against Bridgeport on Saturday, a two-run shot that ended up being the difference in a 2-1 victory.
Valeriano and the Knights return to action on Tuesday, April 18, for a doubleheader with Molloy starting at 3 p.m.
