C.W. Post scored three in the bottom of the first on their way to a 4-2 victory over Queens College in the opening round of the East Coast Conference Softball Playoffs. QC next faces NYIT on Friday at 4:30 pm.

A one out single by Kerry Fisher plated the first run of the day for the homestanding Lady Pioneers. Later in the inning Shannon Kulnis hit a two run home run off of Lady Knights' starter Victoria Coan to put Post ahead, 3-0.

Jill Rini started the Lady Knights' third by working out a walk and Roseann Mercurio followed with a single to ignite a two run rally with both later scoring on a pair of Post errors. Post got one of those runs back in the bottom on a lead off home run by Ashley Marchese. Christy Sanders then came in to relieve Coan and pitched four innings of shutout ball to keep QC close but Post's Sarah Kiser shut QC down the rest of the way, striking out 13 in the process.
