Colon shines on Senior Day

Senior Christina Colon was two for four with a home run and three runs batted in to lead Queens College to a 6-3 win over the University of Bridgeport in the first game of a Senior Day doubleheader played in Flushing, New York on Sunday. Bridgeport won the second game, 3-1.
After UB got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the first, Colon singled in a pair in the second inning in a Lady Knights' three run rally. An inning later Colon hit her sixth home run of the season to cap another three run QC rally that put them ahead 6-2. Victoria Coan pitched two innings to pick up the win in relief, her second such victory in two days. Bryttne Nelson threw a scoreless sixth and seventh to notch her fourth save.
In the second game of the afternoon, Bridgeport scored one in the first and two in the fourth on their way to a 3-1 win over the Lady Knights. Megan White spoiled the shutout for UB's Meggie Blozzon when she led off the fifth with a home run, her team leading eighth of the year.
