Home runs power Dowling past Lady Knights, 6-5

Dowling used three solo home runs to rally to beat Queens College, 6-5, in the completion of a game suspended on April 7th. The game had been halted after three innings with the Lady Knights leading 4-3.

Dowling led 3-0 on two runs in the first and one in the second before Danielle DiGioia homered for QC to start a two run uprising in the bottom of the second. Christina Colon and Destiny Ocasio then led off the bottom of the third with back-to-back home runs to give the Lady Knights a 4-3 lead before darkness fell on April 7th.

Today, after retiring Dowling one-two-three in the fourth, Christy Sanders, in relief of Bryttne Nelson, surrendered solo shots to Jessica Rogue and Stephanie Compitello in the fifth and Keri Boystak in the sixth that put Dowling up, 6-4. Megan White singled in Colon with two outs in the seventh but DiGioia struck out looking to end the game.
