Faria uses bat, arm to win nightcap over Molloy

Adriana Faria hit a three run home run and pitched a complete game to help QC beat Molloy College, 8-6, in the second game of a twin bill on Thursday. Molloy took the opener, 6-4, in Flushing, New York.

After yielding a run in the first and another in the second, Faria came to the plate in the third with two on and blasted her third round tripper of the year to put the Lady Knights up for good. QC added five in the fifth as insurance with the final two runs scoring on a single to left by Sara Koumou. It turned out that they would need those runs as Molloy rallied for four in the seventh to close the gap to 8-6. Molloy brought the tying run to the plate in the form of Nicole Losito but Faria retired her on a line out to Koumou to end the game.

In the first game Molloy scored three runs in the top of the second to take an early lead. Christina Colon doubled home Jillian Rini in QC's half of the inning to make it a 3-1 game. The two teams traded runs in the third before Molloy added a pair in the fifth to open up a four run bulge. Koumou blasted a two run home run in the bottom of the frame to get QC back within striking range but Molloy reliever Allison Ryan shut the door the rest of the way.
