Lady Knights gain split at Post

The Lady Knights beat Post University, 2-0, in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader in Connecticut on Thursday to gain a split. Victoria Coan went the distance to pick up the win for QC. Post won game one, 4-1.
Queens College drew first blood in the fourth inning of the opener when Katie Miracco's one out single drove home Danielle DiGioia, who had led off the inning with a two bagger. Post answered with four runs - three unearned - off starter Bryttne Nelson in the bottom of the inning to round out the scoring for game one.
In the nightcap, Laura Guzman drew a walk to start the second frame. Guzman then stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a Samantha Stallone fielder's choice to give QC a 1-0 lead. The score remained that way until the seventh when DiGioia was hit by a pitch and later scored on a bunt by Guzman.
Coan made the two runs hold up, picking up her first shutout and fourth win of the year in the process. Christina Colon and Megan White each had a single and a double in four at bats in the win. DiGioia also had hits in both games.
Please Note: Friday's doubleheader will start at 11:00 am.
