QC racks up a pair of 4-2 wins over Mercy

Danielle DiGioia was the hitting star in Flushing while Bryttne Nelson and Adriana Faria each posted complete game, 4-2 wins to enable QC to sweep a doubleheader from Mercy College on Tuesday afternoon. DiGioia was six for seven with five RBIs on the day.
DiGioia paced a 13 hit attack with four hits and three RBIs in four at bats, including a double in the opener. Christina Colon also slammed her second round tripper in three games and shortstop Destiny Ocasio added three hits to provide more than enough support for Nelson as she picked up her eighth win of the season.
In the nightcap, DiGioia doubled in QC's first run of the day in their half of the second inning. A two run shot off of the bat of Katie Miracco in the fourth increased the Lady Knights' lead to 3-0 but Mercy pushed across two unearned runs against Faria in the fifth to make the hometown fans sweat a bit. However, DiGioa singled in Ocasio in with an insurance run in the bottom of the inning and Faria retired the next six batters she faced for the win.
