Koumou's bat and Nelson's arm help Lady Knights split with UB

Sara Koumou drove in two runs in a four run fifth inning to help the Lady Knights to a 5-3, game one win over the University of Bridgeport in Garden City, New York. UB used two solo home runs to take the nightcap from QC, 2-1.

Katie Karpinski singled in Allison Castellucci, who had reached on an error, to tie game one at 2-2 in the fifth. Koumou followed with a double that drove home Karpinski and Bryttne Nelson to put her team ahead for good. Danielle DiGioia then provided a bit of insurance by doubling in Koumou with QC's fourth run of the inning. Nelson struck out eight in 6.1 innings to pick up the victory while Christy Sanders got the last two outs to earn the save.

Victoria Tenzyk led off the sixth with a solo home run and Tricia Lee did the same in the seventh in UB's 2-1 win in game two. QC rallied in the seventh when DiGioia and Laura Guzman singled and Castellucci drove in DiGioia with two outs but Castellucci was caught off of first base on the play to end the game.
