QC Cross Country Opens Season At Fordham Fiasco

BRONX, N.Y. - The Queens College cross country squads open their 2016 campaigns Saturday afternoon at the Fordham Fiasco/Ed Joyce Memorial held at Van Cortlandt Park.  On the women's side, the Knights took eighth out of nine teams competing in the Division II, III, junior college race.  The men's team finished 11th in their heat.

Junior Diana Cruz was the Knights' top finisher, placing 20th in her race with a time of 22:50.08.  Freshman Nakeema Neunie placed 43rd with a time of 24:59.20, while freshman Amy Orellana finished with a time of 26:19.39.  Senior Ronsheica Trotman posted a time of 31:06.67, while junior DaMika Banks finished in 31:06.67.

Freshman Francis Matamoro was the men's top finisher, placing 85th with a time of 36:21.65 on the five mile course.  Freshman Frank Alberico placed 88th with a time of 37:14.51, while senior Kyle Bell took 89th with a time of 39:20.60.  Freshman James McGee took 94th with a time of 39:44.02, just ahead of teammate Kheng Seong Lim who placed 97th.

The teams return to the course Oct. 1 for the LIU Post Invitational.
