Men's Tennis Wins Fifth in A Row, Downs Fairleigh Dickinson 7-2 Monday

FLUSHING, N.Y. (Feb. 20, 2018) - The Queens College men's tennis team went 3-0 in doubles play on Monday (Feb. 19) on the way to picking up its fifth win in a row with a 7-2 triumph over Fairleigh Dickinson at the QC Tennis Center.

Roman Laga and Gabriel Mendez claimed an 8-5 win at No. 1 doubles with Cosme Jubera and Lukas Martinez earning an 8-3 win at the second-doubles tandem to put QC out to a 3-0 lead. Richard Sec and Jose Zurro won the third doubles by default as Fairleigh Dickinson traveled with just four players. In singles play, Jubera took a 6-2, 6-3 straight-set win at the second flight while Zurro gritted out a 7-6, 7-6 victory at No. 4 singles. The Knights won fifth and sixth singles by default, as well.

Queens returns to the hard court on Friday (Feb. 23) for a 12 p.m. match with Franklin Pierce University at the QC Tennis Center.
