Men’s Tennis Bounces Back with Sweep of USciences

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Queens College men's tennis team bounced back with a 9-0 sweep over the University of the Sciences (USciences) on the road on Saturday in non-conference action. It marked the Knights' fifth win in their last six matches.

Sharvill Nawghre and Cosme Jubera teamed up for an 8-6 win at No. 1 doubles, while Lucas Martinez and Federico Toscano cruised to an 8-0 win in the second position. Richard Sec and Miguel Bendito partnered for an 8-4 victory at in the third spot, as Queens took a 3-0 lead after doubles.

Nawghre earned a 7-5, 6-2 win at top singles, while Gabriel Mendez battled for a three-set 6-4, 0-6, 11-9 win in the No. 2 spot. Martinez fought for another three-set win at third singles, 5-7, 6-1, 10-6, and Roman Laga recorded a 6-2, 6-2 win in the fourth position. Toscano picked up a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles, while Bendito captured a 7-5, 6-3 win in the sixth spot.

Queens (9-5), the top team in the NCAA East Regional Rankings, will return to action on Tuesday, April 11, for its final home match of the regular season against Post University at 12 p.m.
