Atilla Toth Named to ITA Division II All-America Team
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) recently announced its NCAA Division II men's tennis All-America team, and Queens College junior standout, Atilla Toth was tabbed on the squad. He is believed to be the first player in program history selected for All-America accolades.

Men's Tennis Wraps Up 2010-11 Campaign at No. 25 in Campbell's/ITA National Rankings
Campbell’s and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their final NCAA Division II men’s tennis regional and national rankings Wednesday, and the Queens College men’s tennis squad held steady at the No. 25 slot nationally, as well as No. 2 in the East Region. Additionally, five Knights standouts found themselves ranked individually in the regional tally – including a pair of nationally-ranked performers.

No. 25 Men's Tennis Falls to No. 2 Valdosta State in NCAA Round of 16, 5-1
The 25th-ranked Queens College men's tennis team took what is believed to be their first point in NCAA Division II Championships Round-of-16 play Wednesday morning at Sanlando Park, but the Knights' season ended with a record of 20-6 after they fell to No. 2 Valdosta State (18-1), by the score of 5-1.

No. 25 Men's Tennis Tops Bentley in NCAA Second Round, 5-0; Round of 16 Next
Freshman Andre Pellegrino and junior Diego Medrano won singles matches Tuesday afternoon, and the Queens College men’s tennis team (20-5), ranked No. 25 in the May 3 Campbell’s/ITA Division II Poll and seeded No. 2 in the NCAA East Region, won all three doubles matches en route to a 5-0 victory over third-seeded host Bentley (14-8) in NCAA Division II Championship second-round action.

The Queens College men’s tennis team, ranked No. 26 in the most-recent Campbell’s/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II national poll, won its first-round NCAA Division II Championship match Monday afternoon at Bentley University, as the second-seeded Knights (19-5) took out seventh-seeded University of the Sciences (9-8) by a 5-0 decision in East Region play.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced the 48-team field for its Division II Men’s Tennis Championships Tuesday night, and the Queens College men’s tennis team, ranked No. 26 in the Campbell’s/Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Poll and back-to-back East Coast Conference champions, was slotted as the No. 2 seed in the seven-team East Region. The Knights (18-5) will open tournament play Monday afternoon (May 2), when they travel to Bentley University in Waltham, Mass., to take on seventh-seeded University of the Sciences from Philadelphia (9-7) at 1 p.m.

No. 26 Men's Tennis Takes Out Fordham, 6-1; Prepares for NCAA's
The Queens College men’s tennis team, ranked No. 26 in the Campbell’s/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Poll, geared up for next week’s NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis Championships with a 6-1 victory at Division I Fordham on Tuesday afternoon. The Knights (18-5) took five out of six doubles matches, and secured the doubles point by taking two out of three matches, as well.

Toth Named ECC Men's Tennis Player of the Year; One of Five Knights Named All-Conference
The East Coast Conference announced its 2011 men’s tennis year-end award winners Thursday, and Queens College junior standout, Atilla Toth has been named Player of the Year by the conference’s coaches. Toth is one of five members of the 26th-ranked Knights to garner mention on the all-conference team; he is joined on the first team by junior Diego Medrano and sophomore Nikolaj Wulff, while seniors David Burstein and Fabio Minami were tabbed on the second team.

Campbell’s and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced its NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis rankings Monday, and the Queens College men’s tennis team moved up 11 spots to the No. 26 ranking nationally – the highest mark in head coach Craig Schwartz’s tenure with the program. The Knights are the No. 2 team in the East Region in both the ITA and NCAA Regional Rankings, while junior Atilla Toth moved up 22 spots to the No. 29 national ranking in singles action.

The 37th-ranked Queens College men’s tennis team took a 2-1 lead after doubles play Thursday afternoon at the Bert W. Martin Tennis Complex, and came back from a 4-2 deficit to knot the match at 4-all heading into the final match of the day. However, host No. 6 Rollins (11-5) garnered a three-set marathon at No. 2 singles to capture a 5-4 victory over the visiting Knights (6-4).

The No. 37 Queens College men’s tennis team pushed three singles matches to three sets and forced a tiebreaker in one other, but could not overcome host No. 12 Flagler, Wednesday afternoon, as the Knights dropped a 7-2 decision in their second day of competition in the Sunshine State.

The Queens College men’s tennis team, ranked No. 37 in the ITA Division II Poll, fell in the opening match of its Florida trip by a 6-3 count to host No. 7 Florida Southern, Tuesday afternoon. The visiting Knights (6-2) lost a pair of singles matches in three-set fashion, and got victories from 51st-ranked, Atilla Toth, and Diego Medrano at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Toth also teamed up with Nikolaj Wulff to capture a victory at No. 2 doubles.

Saturday afternoon's men's tennis match between Queens College, ranked No. 37 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Poll, and Division-I Monmouth came down to a third-set tiebreaker in the final match. In the end, it was the visiting Hawks who persevered and captured a hard-fought, 5-4 decision.

Knight's Diego Medrano Named ECC Player of the Week.
Diego went 3-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles in the team’s 3 matches over the past few weeks. At the Drew Invitational, he went 2-0 in singles and 3-0 in doubles. He topped Division I competitor, Robert Forai, 5-7, 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the team’s singles match against St. Peter’s and teamed up with Dave Burstein to win 8-6 over the 3rd doubles team.

The Queens College Men’s Tennis team took on Division 1 foe St. Peter’s College this past Sunday. The Knights edged out St. Peter’s by the score of 4-3. The Win improves their overall record for the ’11 season to 5-0 Overall and 1-0 in ECC play.

The Queens College Men’s Tennis team opened up their Conference schedule this past weekend with a match against St. Thomas Aquinas College. The Knights swept the Spartans 9-0 winning every doubles and singles match. The win improves the Knights to 4-0 overall on the season and 1-0 in Conference play.

The #39 ranked Queens College Men’s Tennis team kicked off their 2011 spring season with a convincing 9-0 win against Pace this past Saturday. The Knights had played and won two matches in the fall. With this win against Pace, the Knights now improve to an overall record of 3-0 for the ’10-’11 season.

Knights take home Pre-Season ITA honors
This week the ITA released its Tennis rankings for the 2011 season with Queens College claiming spots on both the Men’s and Women’s side respectively. The Queens College Men’s team was ranked #39 in the nation and #2 in the East region. The women were ranked #35 in the nation and also claimed the # 2 spot in the East region, both teams being edged out by Concordia who took home the number 1 spot on the East.

For the second consecutive season, the end of the line came for the Knights in the NCAA Championship Round of 16. This time it was number one ranked Valdosta State , who beat QC 5-0 in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Queens College finishes up with 19 wins against just three losses.

Queens College punched their return ticket to the Sweet Sixteen with a 5-2 victory over Bentley College in the NCAA Division II Men’s Tennis East Region #2 Final on Friday afternoon. James Preston put the finishing touches on the win by defeating Lucas Wever at second singles, 6-4, 6-0.

Patryk Polus and James Preston each posted 6-0, 6-0 wins in singles to sew up a 5-0 win for Queens College over Bentley University. The second seeded Knights began the day by taking all three doubles matches from the seventh seeded Falcons in a contest played in Flushing, New York.
