NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Queens College swimming and diving teams concluded the Metropolitan Conference Championships on Sunday, as the men's team finished eighth, while the women's team placed ninth. Three more school records were broken on the final night, pushing the total over the three-day meet to nine.
The men's team totaled 342 points for eighth, while the women's squad finished with 358 points for ninth.
All three new records set on Sunday were on the men's side. Louis Alers set a new program mark in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:55.12, good for ninth place. Joseph Mo also set a new record in the 200-yard backstroke with a preliminary time of 2:00.30. Finally, the men's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Alers, Mo, Jordan Melidor-Fuxis and Mateusz Stypulkowski set a new mark with a time of 3:13.13, finishing in sixth place.
Moustafa Ibrahim placed third in the men's three-meter dive with a total score of 483.30. Melidor-Fuxis also finished 13th in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.20.
Jennifer Arana-Perez posted a sixth place finish in the women's 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:15.34, while Katie Waszkiewicz finished in 14th place at 2:22.51. Anna Lee finished 14th in the 200-yard breaststroke at 2:32.20, while Elizabeth Hodges, Nicole Weinsheimer, Waszkiewicz and Arana-Perez finished 10th in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a mark of 3:51.32.
The Metropolitan Championships concluded the 2016-17 season for the Knights.
