Malinak scores twice, Knights beat Caldwell 2-1

Adam Maliniak scored two goals - one in each half - to lead Queens College to a 2-1 victory over Caldwell College in Flushing on the Tuesday after Labor Day.

The Knights drew first blood in the fifth minute when Elhadji Mbou took a corner from Jose Aguije, crossed a ball into the box and Maliniak headed it past Caldwell keeper John Londono. The lead lasted until the 37th minute when Olof Engh of Caldwell was awarded a penalty kick. QC goalkeeper made an outstanding save on the attempt but Rob Arena was there to bury the rebound and knot the score at one.

Maliniak converted on a miscue by Londono in the 61st minute, picking up a loose ball at the top of the box and just getting enough of the ball to put QC up for good, 2-1.  That's how things would end as the Knights won their second straight, evening their record at 2-2.
