Knights fall to host in opener of the East Stroudsburg Tournament

Queens College was beated by host school East Stroudsburg University, 72-42, in their first of two games at the East Stroudsburg Tournament in Pennsylvania. Mike Liander led the Knights with 11 points and 10 boards.

The first five and a half minutes featured five ties, the last of which came on a Liander basket that deadlocked the game at 11 apiece. Mike Tobin of ESU broke that tie with a basket, igniting a 15-0 run from which the Knights never recovered. ESU built a 41-18 lead after 20 minutes by shooting 54% from the field, compared to 29% by QC. ESU also outrebounded the Knights 24-9 in the half.

Terrell Simmons had six points, seven rebounds and five steals for QC, who face Shippensburg tomorrow afternoon at 3:00 pm before travelling to Long Island on Sunday afternoon to square off against Adelphi University.
