Simmons basket in OT wins it for Knights

A basket by Terrell Simmons with five seconds left in overtime gave Queens College a 84-82 win over Nyack College in the Fairfield Inn Classic on Friday night in Nyack, New York. Lamont Lans led four Knights in double figures with 20 points.
QC got off to a fine start, scoring the first nine points to open the game on their way to a 35-30 advantage after 20 minutes. Two free throws from Lans gave them their biggest lead, 48-34, 3:58 into the second half. The Knights led 57-44 on an Edil Lacayo three pointer with 12:37 remaining before Nyack mounted a comeback, ultimatley tying the contest at 74 with 10 seconds left on two free throws by Valiant Jones.
The Knights built a five point lead in the extra session when Lans connected on a three pointer with 1:27 left. Once again Nyack rallied with Jose Lopez knotting the game at 82 with 22 seconds remaining, setting up Simmons' heroics.
Simmons finished with 15 points and eight boards while Mike Liander added a double-double (17 points, 10 boards) and Lacayo scored 12 to help QC even their record at 1-1.
