The Knights dug an early hole that they could not climb out of in a 78-58 loss at Stonehill College in their 2008-09 season opener. Lawrence Young, Khalil McDonald and Lamont Lans all scored in double figures for Queens College in the loss.

Stonehill built leads of 11 -2 five and a half minutes into the contest and 22-6 eight minutes in on their way to a 44-22 advantage after 20 minutes. The Knights lost the battle of the boards, 42-30 and made only 37% of their attempts while Stonehill connected at a 51% clip.

Lawrence Young led the Knights with 13 points while Lamont Lans added 11 points, three assists and three steals and Khalil McDonald had 11.
